The Kawasaki Z650RS made its global debut earlier this year and we could not wait for the modern-classic middleweight to land up on our shores and this time Kawasaki has heard us! Kawasaki seems to be enthusiastic about bringing the Z650RS to the Indian market and it is already here at a price of Rs.6.65 lakhs. The 2022 Kawasaki Z650RS shares its underpinnings with the Z650 that’s already on sale in India. Z650RS. The Z650RS will be available in “Candy Emerald Green” and “Metallic Moondust Gray” colours
The design language on the Kawasaki Z650RS is heavily inspired from the Kawasaki naked-s of the 1970s. It looks like a smaller Z900RS which is awesome. The tear drop-shaped fuel tank, round LED headlamp, single-piece seat, twin-pod instrument console are all part of the retro design language. The cycle parts have been carried over from the Z650 bringing a familiar and reliable package to the masses.
The 2022 Kawasaki Z650RS uses the same 649cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor tuned for 68PS at 8,000RPM and 64Nm at 7,000RPM. The motor is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Compared to the Z650, the Z650RS gets a revised power and torque curve. The motor has been optimized for better low-end and mid-range response.
The chassis also remains identical with a trellis frame with a 41mm telescopic fork and preload-adjustable monoshock, and twin 300mm discs up front and a single 220mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS will remain standard. The bike gets full LED lighting.
Modern classics remain the flavour for buyers and the Z650RS will find quite an audience in India by a good margin. The bike will compete with the Triumph Trident and Bonnivelle, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, and the likes.
