South Korean carmaker Kia has announced prices of top automatic versions of its recently launched Sonet SUV. With the announcement of these prices, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol variants of Sonet now range between Rs 9.49 lakh and Rs 12.89 lakh. The diesel range of the SUV, on the other hand, can be had between Rs 8.05 lakh and Rs 12.89 lakh. There is no change in the prices of the 1.2-litre petrol variant of Sonet as this naturally aspirated engine doesn’t get the option of the automatic.

The Kia Sonet GTX+ Automatic Variant petrol and diesel variants of Sonet come at a premium of Rs 90,000 over their manual counterparts. The gulf in the prices becomes quite wide when one compares Sonet’s middle-level automatics with top-trim automatics – the difference is Rs 2.40 lakh in petrol while in the case of diesel, it’s Rs 2.50 lakh. If one compares the prices of Sonet’s top trim automatics with its rivals, it becomes apparent that both petrol and diesel variants of Sonet are priced at the higher end of the bracket. While the difference is not that much in the case of diesel automatic although the petrol automatic variant of Sonet is priced considerably higher than its competitors.
