Lexus NX India Plans Being Chalked Down to make sure that it rivals the Germans in a segment which is gaining traction in the country
Lexus the brand very well known for its luxury vehicles is said to be working on bringing its entry level cross over, the NX to India. By the chiseled body and angel- eyed glare we can tell the luxury car wants to be a sports car but don’t be fooled, because under the hood there is a softy. The NX facelift was revealed at Shanghai Motors this year. In our crossover crazed times there is no shortage of choices among the compact SUV’s, including those with a luxury bent! The NX is both a cost effective and a trendy path to Lexus ownership. This proves it to be a popular entry in the brand’s line up. Lexus offers two versions of the NX 200t and NX 200h (hybrid)
The Lexus NX has a length of 182.3 inches, a width of 73.6 inches, a height of 64.8 inches. Apart from the facelift Lexus has tweaked the chassis and made some changes to the interiors. The NX has a ground clearance of 6.9 inches, the front and rear track width of the NX is 61.8 inches and has a wheel base of 104.7 inches.
The NX has a passenger capacity of five with a front head room of 38.2 inches, front shoulder room of 57.3 inches, front hip room of 55.1 inches and a front leg room of 42.8 inches. Coming to the rear of the car we have a head room of 38.1 inches, a shoulder room of 55.3 inches, a hip room of 53.9 inches and a leg room of 36.1 inches.
The NX comes with a huge bunch of entertainment features such as radio: FM/AM/CD, Lexus display audio inclusive of 8 speakers, Bluetooth audio streaming from compatible devices, hands free, USB/I-pod control, 7 inch screen, 3D maps, 3D buildings, my traffic routes, speed limit displayed on road travelled, ETA calculation improved, predictive traffic, MID data sharing, voice recognition, one-shot address entry, steering wheel control of on-board/off-board voice recognition, hint screens, cache radio, hybrid data service, basic traffic maps weather forecast and whole lot more.
Not only this, there is a manual tilt/telescope steering column. Gauges include speedometer, odometer, oil pressure engine coolant temperature, tachometer oil temperature, trip meter and a trip computer. This car also comes with power rear windows, leather steering wheel, front and rear cup holders, proximity key for doors and a push start button and more.
The NX comes with an inter-cooled turbo premium unleaded 2.0L 16V DOHC 4-cylinder engine and has a SAE net horsepower of [email protected] rpm and SAE net torque of 258 @ 1650 RPM. It has Mc-Pherson strut suspension in the front and double wishbone at the back. The NX has a 6- speed multimode auto transmission inclusive of electronically controlled transmission intelligence (ECT-i). The NX comes with front wheel drive, 550 CCA maintenance free battery, a sport tuned suspension and gas pressurized shock absorbers.
The Lexus NX comes with safety features such as forward collision warning, adaptive cruse control, and lane-departure alert and is now standard on every NX. It also has ESC (electronic stability control), ABS (anti-locking breaking system) and driveline traction control, side impact beams, dual stage driver and passenger seat mounted side airbags, low tire pressure warning, rear child safety locks, buckle up camera, airbag occupancy sensor, driver knee and passenger cushion front airbags.
Dual stage driver and passenger seat mounted side airbags and much more. The cross over will compete with the likes of Audi Q3 and Mercedes Benz GLA. The price and launch date is not yet confirmed.
