Having revealed prices for the BS6 compliant MG Hector Diesel recently, the automaker has now confirmed that there will be a diesel-automatic variant of the SUV joining the line-up soon. The company confirmed the development in a tweet and the said that the variant will arrive in the near future. MG also confirmed the the Hector Diesel Automatic will get a dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
There aren’t more details on the MG Hector Diesel Automatic, and prices can be expected to be about Rs. 1.5 lakh more than the diesel manual version. The Hector Diesel AT is likely to be offered on the range-topping trim that comes loaded with all the goodies including the projector lens LED headlamps, the massive touchscreen infotainment system with voice command, connected car technology, panoramic sunroof and more.
Power on the MG Hector Diesel BS6 comes from the same 2.0-litre engine that’s sourced from the FCA Group. The motor belts out 170PS and 350Nm of peak torque. Currently, the motor is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. MG already offers an automatic version of the Hector with the petrol variants of the SUV.
The MG Hector Diesel BS6 is currently priced between Rs. 13.88 lakh and Rs. 17.72 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom India). With a price increase, expect the automatic variant to be priced around Rs. 19 lakh. In this price bracket, Hector Diesel AT will lock horns against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier and the Jeep Compass. MG is yet to announce the timeline for the launch of the diesel automatic but we expect the same to arrive in the second half of 2020.
