Nissan Note Hatchback Spotted Testing in India will go against the likes of Elite i20, Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and upcoming Tata X451

A premium hatchback from Nissan has been spotted testing on the Indian roads. The hatch spied is labeled as Note and was the top-spec variant of the premium Note hatchback. The car has been spotted testing for the very first time in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. There are no as such reports about this premium hatch coming to the Indian market as of now. But if launched in India, the Note will rival against B-segment hatchbacks like the very prominent Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20.

This will be the very first premium hatch from Nissan for its Indian portfolio if launched in the country. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda and Volkswagen have already set their mark in the Indian market with their premium hatches competing against each other. Nissan will be the new one entering this segment. The Note is a four-metre premium hatchback. The upcoming Note is said to replace the old growing Micra.

The model that has been spotted is the ‘Medalist’ variant which is certainly the top spec variant as the hatch is seen with a lot of premium features as 15-inch alloy wheels, cosmetic updates, and newly designed fog lamps as well. The rear bumper has parking sensors along with the tail getting a Medalist badge which will define it from other variants. The Note gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine which produces 95 bhp and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Globally the Note also gets an optional electric powertrain and Nissan’s autonomous technology. Companies like Tata and Ford are also looking to play their cards with their upcoming premium hatchbacks entering the very cut-throat market.

We believe that Nissan is planning to bring in the e-POWER variant of the Note in the growing premium hatchback segment. Although there is no sure shot news on which variant will be coming in the Indian market and when. Nissan is yet to confirm the Indian launch of the Note hatchback.
