Petrol prices have been above Rs 100 in major cities for all major cities. The price has been on hold for four months giving relief to both ends. CNG prices are now rising and have increased by 50% from early 2021 to late 2022. Diesel prices now are similar to CNG prices in some cities. We look at the prices in major states.
The fuel prices are updated daily at 6 am daily by public sector oil marketing companies such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) in accordance with worldwide benchmark pricing and foreign exchange rates. Retail petrol and diesel prices vary by state due to local taxes such as VAT or freight charges. Here are the rates for the said date below.
