The second-generation Kia Sonet is anticipated to launch in 2027, transitioning to the newer K1 architecture. This platform update aims to improve rear-seat passenger space and achieve a target 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. Exterior design changes include a revised front fascia with a wider grille, smoother bumper lines, and eyebrow-shaped LED daytime running lights, alongside updated alloy wheels and new LED tail-lights. Inside, the vehicle is expected to feature a redesigned dashboard utilizing upgraded materials, as well as larger screens for both the digital driver display and the infotainment system, though the inclusion of a Level 2 ADAS suite remains unconfirmed.
Under the hood, the Sonet will likely retain its current powertrain lineup, which includes a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, available with both manual and automatic transmission options. Additionally, a strong-hybrid variant based on the 1.2-litre petrol engine is reportedly in development for a subsequent release, potentially arriving around 2028 or 2029.
