Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) has recently launched facelifted Tucson in the Indian market in the price range of Rs 22.30 – 27.03 lakh (ex-showroom). The new SUV is pitted against the likes of Jeep compass and Skoda Karoq. We compare Skoda Karoq Vs Jeep Compass Vs Hyundai Tucson in this specification comparison review to help you choose the best:

1) Dimensional Comparison: In all aspects of dimensionality, 2020 Hyundai Tucson leads the chart. It is lengthiest, widest, and tallest among the three. It also comes with the longest wheelbase which means occupants at the back seat will be more comfortable with legroom and knee room. Tucson also features the largest 530-liter boot which is best among the comparison lot.

Despite boasting the highest capacity engine, Hyundai Tucson petrol features the lowest power and torque output. Jeep Compass comes on the top in the power though Skoda Karoq matches it in the torque department. Even on the transmission front, Hyundai Tucson lags behind others with its 6-speed gear ratio compared to 7-speed units of Skoda and Jeep.

Hyundai Tucson and Jeep compass are also available in diesel versions though Skoda has no offering in the oil-burner space. Unlike petrol, diesel Tucson races ahead of Compass with its generous 185PS and 400 Nm of output. Hyundai has got 8-speed AT for all variants of Tucson although the 9-speed AT in the Jeep compass is reserved exclusively for 4X4 variants. However, if you want to have a manual gearbox in diesel variant then Jeep compass is the only choice available in the market.

3) Features and Creature Comfort
All three contenders in this comparison review come loaded to the gills. There is no dearth of creature comfort with all three SUVs having infotainment systems, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps, cruise control, push-button start-stop system, keyless entry, and auto-dimming IRVM. However, when it comes to subtle touches and niceties, Skoda Karoq has got some advantage over others. Hyundai Tucson claws back the ground thanks to its connected car features, wireless charging, and ventilated front seats.

4) Safety Features: All three players are generously crafted with safety and security features. There are multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electric parking brake, rearview camera parking system, and electronic stability control. Skoda Karoq, once again, goes the extra mile with its nine airbags and driver fatigue monitoring safety system.

2020 Hyundai Tucson is the costliest of the lot but then the extra money is worth the investment because you get a lot of peace of mind. Jeep Compass is even more expensive in its higher spec variants and doesn’t get you the SUV bling with its size. Diesel is better value with the Tucson. Hyundai Tucson will get you a handsome looking SUV with loads of creature comfort and safety features.

2020 Hyundai Tucson is a very competitive offering that you should consider before arriving at a final buying decision for a diesel SUV in this segment. If you are looking for a petrol powered SUV, the Karoq is a better choice in terms of driving and the premium you pay for it is almost worth it, if not entirely thanks to additional kit on offer.
