Skoda Auto India has had an incredibly successful year backed by the launch of the Kushaq and Slavia. The models have been game-changers for the brand with the automaker well on its way to cross the 50,000 sales mark in a single year. In keeping with the popularity of both models, Skoda now plans to bring an update to the Slavia with the highly anticipated Monte Carlo edition. The Slavia Monte Carlo will fall in line with the automaker’s long history of adding the nameplate to its existing cars. The Kushaq Monte Carlo Edition was launched earlier this year and now the Slavia Monte Carlo could arrive by early 2023.
Skoda brings its racing pedigree to the fore with the Monte Carlo editions and the Slavia Monte Carlo will get cosmetic upgrades to denote the same. Expect to see the bright red paint scheme with blacked-out accents, alloy wheels with red brake calipers and a blacked-out roof. The model will also get the Monte Carlo badge on the front fenders to distinguish it better from the standard version. To be fair, we’ve seen these changes already on the Kushaq Monte Carlo.
The cabin will also get the all-black treatment complemented with red accents. It could also bring back the 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which was replaced with an 8-inch unit owing to supply-chain constraints. The Monte Carlo edition will arrive on the more loaded variants of the compact sedan, so expect the top-spec Style trim to get the same. It’s likely to be offered in both manual and automatic transmission choices whilst paired with the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engines. Prices will see an increment of Rs. 40,000-50,000 over the standard variants of the Slavia Monte Carlo.
The new special edition offering will be a great way to kick off activities for the new calendar year. It will also help the model stay relevant amidst rivals like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and the like.
