Tata’s dominance in the electric vehicle category of the Indian market is well established now, thanks to the stupendous performance of Nexon EV and Tiago EV. Tata Nexon EV is the top-selling electric vehicle in the Indian market and the company is now looking to strengthen its electric portfolio with the launch of new models such as the Altroz EV and Punch EV. The smallest SUV in Tata’s portfolio, Punch is all set to get its market launch in the festive season and the ALFA platform on which the SUV is based makes it a strong contender for the EV as well.

All this is confirmed as the Punch EV seems ready for a launch in late 2023. New spyshots suggests it is readied and last moment changes are happening. It could borrow the battery and motor from Tigor, which is slightly above Tiago EV. Tata’s ALFA architecture is quite compatible with different drivetrains and body styles. Hence, it won’t be a problem for the company to come up with the electric version of Punch. There is no official confirmation of the specification of Punch EV yet. The range of Punch EV is likely to be around 250km. The interior feature reveals it has the center console of the Nexon EV with round gear shift dial (which is hopeful 5 times faster than the current unit) Auto hold, electric parking brake and wireless charging. Tata has a habit know to put all features possible in the EV to gain some serious attention. The center screen could be inspired from the new Dark edition of the Nexon EV with new software seen on the Harrier and Safari as well.

Tata Punch EV will likely to feature subtle differences on exteriors and interiors compared to its standard counterpart. Some of the expected changes include dual-tone exteriors, bi-arrow patterns, and blue accents to announce the EV credentials of the SUV. The inclusion of black alloys and rugged cladding all-around will help the looks department while bringing extra SUV-ish stance to the vehicle. The Punch EV will have its competition ready for it as it will fight the MG Comet EV and most importantly, the Citroen eC3. Punch has proven itself well with a petrol motor thanks to styling, packaging, pricing, safety and space.
