Simple Energy today officially and finally launched its maiden electric 2-wheeler- the Simple ONE at the price of INR 1,45,000. The Super EV- Simple ONE will be available at a price of INR 1,58,000. This price shall also include a 750W charger. Unveiled globally on 15th August 2021, Simple ONE has undergone a series of improvement cycles basis the initial feedback received and is finally ready to make a mark on Indian roads!
The booking commencement for Simple ONE received a stupendous response with the company registering more than 1 lakh pre bookings, in 18 months. Now, with the official launch, the company plans to facilitate customer deliveries in a phased manner, starting with Bangalore. The deliveries shall commence in the upcoming days. In addition, it will also focus on ramping up its retail operations in the next 12 months by being present in 40-50 cities, through a network of 160-180 retail stores in these cities.
All cities except Bangalore can expect a waiting period for a year as what looks like production could start slow and then progress ahead as demand follows. The high price seems justified as the range is higher than the Ola S1 Pro but it does not pack the sheer amount of features that the Ola does. The rest of the scooters in the EV space are still behind in the race such as TVS, Bajaj and Ather. TVS will bounce back with the ST variant of the iQube this year but it is very likely it will not have this much range. All EV scooters are now very close to retailing at price point of the ICE scooters thanks to inflation and lack of FAME 2 subsidies over the previous version and the subsidies are set to go away entirely in the near future.
