Ultraviolette today announced the induction of its X-47 Crossover
electric motorcycles into the fleet of the Kolkata Police, marking a significant step towards the
adoption of advanced, purpose-built electric mobility for law enforcement in India.
The official handover ceremony was held at the Lalbazar Police Headquarters, where the
motorcycles were formally received. With 183 X-47 ‘Skyforce’ motorcycles being supplied to
the Kolkata Police, the deployment represents one of the largest fleet of electric motorcycles
inducted by an Indian police force. Ultraviolette is also the first electric two-wheeler
manufacturer by scale to have its motorcycles inducted into the Kolkata Police fleet, with the X47 ‘Skyforce’ being introduced as a dedicated Patrol Variant developed for police operations.

Commenting on the launch, Narayan Subramaniam, CEO & Co-founder of Ultraviolette,
said: “It gives us great honour to launch a new variant- X-47 ‘Skyforce’; a purpose developed
tactical machine for the police forces. This is a landmark moment for Ultraviolette, as we become
the first electric two-wheeler manufacturer by scale to have our motorcycles inducted into the
police force. Beyond the significance of this milestone, we take immense pride in knowing that
our technology will now contribute to the everyday duties of police officers who work tirelessly to
maintain law and order and keep our cities safe. Designed to be seamlessly integrated across
diverse use cases, the X-47 ‘Skyforce’ can adapt to the evolving needs of law enforcement, and
support officers across a wide range of operational requirements. We thank the Kolkata Police
for placing their trust in Ultraviolette and look forward to supporting its officers with mobility that
is not only futuristic, but purpose-built for duty.”

The X-47 ‘Skyforce’, has been specifically configured for the requirements of the Kolkata Police,
with an augmented electronics architecture so as to facilitate integrated police-duty equipment,
including sirens, hooters, a Public Address (PA) system, decals, LED blinkers, mic holders,
walkie-talkie holders, and side panniers. The motorcycles have undergone extensive testing prior
to handover, ensuring that the fleet is equipped to transition from conventional mobility to a new
generation of electric, connected and purpose-built police vehicles.

The X-47 ‘Skyforce’ motorcycles are now placed in a visible, real-world policing role. Unlike
ceremonial or symbolic deployments, the X-47 ‘Skyforce’ Patrol Variant has been configured to
perform demanding day-to-day duties, bringing together the agility of a motorcycle with the
versatility and capability required by police personnel operating in dynamic urban environments.

Built around Ultraviolette’s performance-focused engineering, the X-47 offers a combination of
agility, high-speed capability, long-range usability and practicality, making it suited to situations
where quick response, manoeuvrability and operational flexibility are critical. Its crossover
architecture also provides officers with a motorcycle designed to navigate varied urban
conditions while carrying the equipment required for duty. The X-47s ergonomic design, power
delivery and refined ride experience are intended to support officers through extended periods of
operation.

The induction reflects Kolkata Police’s approach towards modernisation and the evolution of
mobility for law enforcement, demonstrating how public institutions can embrace futuristic
mobility while addressing practical operational requirements. The move also aligns with the
broader national direction towards electrification and smarter, more sustainable urban mobility.
At the fleet level, electric motorcycles can additionally offer the department the potential for
lower running and maintenance costs, helping make the transition to sustainable mobility
relevant not just from an environmental perspective, but from an operational and economic one
as well.

With this deployment, Kolkata Police joins the growing movement towards futuristic, sustainable
and technology-led mobility, while the X-47 takes on a new role as a tactical machine built for the
realities of Indian Police Operations.
