2020 BMW 8-Series Coupe will replace the 6 series and the 6 series will replace the 5-series GT and many more revisions will take place

It has been in the rumour mill since some time now, however with these first ever spy shots of the BMW 8 Series we can be certain BMW is indeed reviving the 8 Series. The new BMW 8 Series is expected to be the new flagship BMW and might well arrive as the sportier coupe cousin of the 7 Series. This also means that the 8 Series will target the Mercedes S Class Coupe both in terms of performance and sporty intent. The BMW 8 series is not expected to arrive anytime soon with the rumors suggesting a 2019-2020 unveil for the car, which means that we will have to do with these sort of spied camouflaged pictures for a long time to come.

Looking at these spied pictures, we reckon the design of the car might be inspired by the 2013 Gran Lusso Concept by Pininfarina. Design elements like the wide kidney grill and swept-back headlights seem to pay an ode to the 2013 concept. However, it is safe to say that the best look of the car will be its side profile that shows off the cars sleek roof. This would surely take the final production variant look handsome and classy. The intense use of camouflage for time being clearly keeps almost every design detail of the car a secret , however, we like those well-integrated trapezoidal exhausts.

Expect the all new BMW 8 series to arrive with the similar set of engines that power the 7 Series. The 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, 4.4-liter biturbo V8, and a plug-in hybrid will at least be a surety. Interestingly, the rumours do suggest that there will also be a V12 in the offering when the car arrives later in the decade. The V12 will be ready and apt to fend off any AMG advances in the performance parameters.

As for the luxury features, expect the 7 Series to donate everything it has learned over the years to its new sleeker sibling, high-tech amenities like gesture controls for the infotainment system. The smart tuning of suspension, also, as per the road ahead should surely make way into the 8 Series. It is expected that there would also be a drop-top version too of the 8 Series, meaning a space for a luxurious grand tourer in BMW line will be filled.
