2020 Mahindra Bolero BS6 has been launched in the Indian market at a price of Rs 7.77 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The primary change in the best-selling Mahindra SUV is under the hood where the 1.5-liter diesel engine has been upgraded to meet stringent B6 emission norms. The diesel motor is good for 76PS and 210Nm in its latest state of tune and the output is slightly more than the outgoing version which puts out 71PS and 195Nm. There is no change in the transmission as the 5-speed gearbox has been carried over from the outgoing model.
In addition to the engine upgrade, Mahindra has also tweaked the design of the Bolero to make it look more contemporary. New bonnet, grille, and headlamp cluster bode well for the SUV design and making the design even more interesting is a new front bumper and fog lamps. Further, new tail lamps (with clear lens) and decals complete the look of new BS6 Bolero.
The overall layout of the dashboard inside the cabin continues to remain the same. The digital instrument cluster has been carried and the driver information system has been stacked at the center. Among the significant features on the micro-hybrid version of Bolero includes engine start-stop system, an audio unit with USB support, flip key, rear washer wiper, driver-side airbag, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder (both driver and Co-driver side), and high-speed alert system.
Compared to the outgoing version, the base variant of the new model is around Rs 33,000 dearer than corresponding version of the outgoing model. However, there is no difference in the price of the top variant of the outgoing and incoming model. As far as competition is concerned, there is no direct rival to 2020 Mahindra Bolero BS6 in the market. It is the preferred choice in semi-urban and rural areas and has been one of the star performers in the Mahindra’s stable for a long time.
