Rolls-Royce announced its first-ever electric offering in September this year and the model was also teased in a camouflaged silhouette. While the company is currently developing the model and the production version is still some time away, the Spectre was recently spotted testing for the first time out in the open. Compared to the prototype images revealed earlier this year, the spy shots give a little more detail on the design aspect of things.
Despite being all-electric, the Spectre will be a Rolls-Royce in every way and so the familiar elements of the design will be carried over. The test mule appears to get the traditional slatted front grille, which we believe will get an electric twist, while the model sports a pair of slim headlights identical to those visible on the new Phantom and Ghost. The wheels look ready for production as opposed to the ones on the prototype in the teaser. The taillights seem to be all new and vertically stacked. The Spectre also seems to get the rear-hinged suicide doors from the Wraith but it will be a completely different product in terms of identity and positioning.
The new Rolls-Royce Spectre will be based on the same spaceframe architecture as the new-generation Phantom and Ghost models. The cabin is expected to be equally opulent as the brand’s other offerings, albeit with a lot more tech now in play. Details on the electric motor output and the battery pack though have not been disclosed. But we trust Rolls-Royce to bring something groundbreaking with the Spectre.
The new Rolls-Royce Spectre will make its production debut by late 2023 and this is one offering we can’t wait to get our hands on. More details will be disclosed closer to the global debut.
