Bajaj Qute Quadricycle Maharashtra Launch Soon – Earlier it was in the state of Kerela and exports have begun already since last year
India’s largest three-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto is all set to launch its Qute quadricycle in the country in a phased manner. Maharashtra will be the first state to witness Qute’s launch while other states will get access to the quadricycle in the second phase of the roll out. Bajaj has been pushing for the launch of Qute for almost six years now and finally it seems, the determination of top management has yielded the results.
The price of the Qute will be announced at the launch and it is expected to stack between the prices of a three-wheeler and an affordable four-wheeler. In terms of engine, Bajaj Qute comes powered by a 216cc petrol engine which puts out a maximum power of 13.2PS. It has a curb weight of 451kg and can attain a maximum speed of up to 70kmph. Among the other highlights, Bajaj is promoting fuel efficiency of Qute prominently and claims the quadricycle to be at least 65% most fuel efficient than the most popular small car on sale in India.
The engine uses a 4-valve, fuel-injection system and uses water for the cooling function. The fuel efficiency is rated at 35 km/liter for the petrol and 43 km/kg for the CNG version. The Qute has the smallest turning radius of 3.5 m which makes it extremely maneuverable even during the rush hours in the city. The dash-mounted gear lever enhances the driving comfort though small 12” wheels feel a bit underwhelmed.
Bajaj started exporting the quadricycle to Latin America, Africa, and Europe in 2015 and now it has got the nod to sell it in the domestic market too. Many companies including Tata Motors and TVS have opposed the sale of quadricycles as these do not meet the crash safety norms laid out by the government.
