BMW recently made waves at EICMA 2024 and the Bharat Mobility Expo by showcasing the upcoming F 450 GS. We’re now getting a sneak peek at a heavily camouflaged test unit being put through its paces in India, and here’s what we’ve been able to discern from the images.
While the G 310 GS was BMW’s entry into the ADV market before its discontinuation, the F 450 GS aims to step up the game as a serious off-road contender. The test mules are shrouded in camouflage, which obscures many design details, but the overall silhouette is reminiscent of the original F 450 GS concept. Features like the beak-shaped front fender, a single headlamp, and a tall windscreen look strikingly similar to those we saw in the concept.
One notable change from the concept version is the choice of wheels. The test mule is fitted with alloy wheels—different from the original cross-spoke design—similar to those on the G 310 GS, shod with Eurogrip Duratrail EB+ tires. Additionally, these test units seem to come equipped with some luggage options. Interestingly, one bike has handguards, while the other does not. This raises the question: will the F 450 GS be available in distinct road and off-road variants?
We can expect the production version of the F 450 GS to be unveiled in late 2025, potentially around EICMA, with an India launch likely to follow shortly after. It will be positioned beneath the F 900 GS in BMW’s range, setting it up as a competitor to the Royal Enfield Himalayan and other adventure bikes.
