Taking the design cue from its crossover sedans C4X and C5X, it seems that Citroen is in the process of developing C3X for developing markets. The recent spy shots of the C3X confirm that it will bear a coupe crossover shape and we guestimate its Indian market launch around the middle of the next year. Just so you know, the Citroen C3X coupe will be the first sedan offering from the French carmaker for the Indian market. The electric version of the coupe crossover is also on the cards.
C3X might stretch up to 4500 mm in length and given its crossover credentials, it is likely to get high ground clearance as well. In India, it might be built on the same platform as the C3 Aircross SUV and feature a similar wheelbase besides sharing parts and components with the SUV to keep the cost in check. Inside the cabin, C3X will likely get the same instrument cluster, infotainment screen, and dashboard as seen on C3 Aircross with a list of other probable features including roof-mounted AC vents, alloy wheels, side-body cladding, and skid plates on both front and rear ends.
In terms of the engine, C3X will receive a single option of Puretech 110 putting out 110 PS along with 190 Nm of max torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission which will transfer the drive to the front wheels of the coupe crossover. In terms of the launch chronology, C3 Aircross will be the first to make its Indian debut followed by its electric variant (already in testing) later.
This will be followed by the C3X sedan and its electric variant sometime in the middle of 2024. It will be interesting to witness how prospective buyers in India will react to the Citroen C3X coupe as it’s the second crossover sedan that will get the Indian market launch after the Volvo S60 Cross Country. However, it will go against the likes of Honda City, VW Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Hyundai Verna among others.
