Jeep Slashes Prices and Cherokee Petrol has been Launched. All of this makes the Jeep brand more accessible but still a bit far away from being value like Germans
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India has cut prices of its Jeep model range by up to Rs. 18.5 lakh in order to pass on goods and service tax (GST) benefits to its customers. The Grand Cherokee range in India has been updated as well. The US based company has reduced price of diesel powered Wrangler (Unlimited) by by Rs. 7.14 lakh to Rs. 64.45 lakh from 71.59 lakh earlier.
It has also cut price of Grand Cherokee (Limited) Diesel by Rs. 18.49 lakh to Rs. 75. 15 lakh from Rs. 93. 64 lakh. Besides, price of diesel powered Grand Cherokee (Summit) has been cut by Rs. 18.24 lakh to Rs. 85.13 lakh from Rs. 1.03 crore. The company has also reduced price of Grand Cherokee SRT ( Street and Racing Technology) by Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 1.07 crore.
Company latest offering the new Grand Cherokee petrol is priced at Rs. 75.15 lakh while the prices of the Wrangler (Unlimited) petrol remain unchanged at Rs. 56 lakh which makes it the most affordable Jeep model in India. (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Apart from the drop in prices, Jeep has also made some changes and updates to the Grand Cherokee such as silver finished plating for the grille slats and newly designed 18-inch alloy painted in high gloss silver and will come standard on the Grand Cherokee limited. The Summit variant of the Grand Cherokee now gets new 20-inch full polished in aluminium in Technical Grey colour.
Lastly, the SRT version gets 20-inch full polished satin clear coat and matte black split spoke alloys with upper and lower cooling intakes on the front end. The other updates include a Gen II automatic transmission, standard air suspension on the summit trim of the Grand Cherokee and Standard LED fog lamps on the entire range.
Also the steering setup is now electric power assisted as compared to the earlier setup electro-hydraulic power steering. All the Grand Cherokee variants now also get an acoustic windshield which apparently reduce seepage of noise into the cabin. The brand is also readying the launch of its first made-in-India model, the Jeep Compass SUV, which will be launched on July 31, 2017.
