The Kia Carens EV is set to make its showroom debut in June 2025. Prior to its official launch, this electric MPV has been spotted with some camouflage near a charging station. The prototype features a covered grille, updated LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs), along with a charging port located on the front fender. In contrast to its traditional counterpart, the electric Carens showcases aerodynamic alloy wheels and slightly modified taillights connected by a light bar.
Inside the cabin, there will be several EV-specific enhancements. The Kia Carens EV is anticipated to sport new seat upholstery, updated trims, and a redesigned dashboard. Additionally, it may come equipped with a Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), a first for its class. This electric MPV might also feature a 360-degree camera for added safety.
Details about the powertrain have not been officially confirmed yet. However, it’s expected that the Kia Carens EV will include a 42kWh battery pack paired with a 135bhp electric motor, likely sourced from the Hyundai Creta electric. This configuration is claimed to offer an ARAI range of 390km on a full charge.
Pricing for the Kia Carens EV is estimated to begin around ₹16 lakh to ₹18 lakh for the base model, while the top-of-the-line trim may be priced close to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Carens MPV lineup will further expand with a premium variant launching in April 2025. This new high-end Carens version will be sold alongside the refreshed regular model. It is expected to incorporate features from the Syros, including a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic display panel, Level 2 ADAS, and over-the-air updates. No mechanical modifications are anticipated; the 2025 Kia Carens will likely retain the same engine options as before: a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5L turbo petrol, and a 1.5L diesel engine. Transmission options will also carry over from the current generation.
