Customers can get SmartPlay To Offer Android Auto by a simple update at dealerships
Maruti Suzuki has announced a software update for its fleet of cars with Smartplay Infotainment System; the update includes Android Auto and newly updated maps for the navigation system.
Maruti Suzuki offers SmartPlay Infotainment System in Ciaz, S-cross, Ertiga, Baleno, Vitara Brezza, Ignis and New Swift Dzire but Ignis and new Dzire were the only cars that came with SmartPlay Infotainment System supporting Android Auto. Rest of the models had SmartPlay Infotainment System with features such as Bluetooth connectivity, navigation via SD card and more but it supported only Apple CarPlay.
SMARTPLAY is a 7″ WVGA TFT display touchscreen infotainment system that allows you to forget buttons and dial with your voice. Select songs, albums and artists as you speak. There’s a built-in GPS wherein maps are pre-loaded on SD card, so you can navigate and reach places with ease.
Maruti Suzuki is offering the update to all the existing customers having cars equipped with SmartPlay Infotainment System with free of cost from the authorized dealerships across India. The update is about 2.5 GB software and is valid till 2020. Both old and updated software allows user to mirror few features from their smartphones via USB cable that enhances connected driving experience.
The system also comes with multi-source selection, AM-FM, intuitive playback management, smart phone display on head-unit, mirror link car mode, navigation with saved destination, route customization and much more.
Bringing Android Auto was a smart move and was also needed as here in India Androids phones are more popular and used rather than Apple Phones; this move will grab more customers now as earlier many would had to look for other options because Maruti cars didn’t had Android Auto. As Hyundai offers Android Auto, Apple Carplay and also Mirrorlink in i20 Elite and Volkswagen Polo also have Android Auto because Baleno had only Apple Carplay.
