Qargos, a Pune-based startup, has developed the world’s first electric cargo scooter. The company has now begun testing ahead of its planned market launch in the first half of this year. Qargos electric vehicles are specifically designed for last-mile delivery applications. It was developed in collaboration with Dassault Systèmes. The USP of the Qargos electric vehicle is its huge cargo compartment with a capacity of 225 liters, located between the front and rear wheels.

It can carry about 120 kg of cargo. The company claims the Qargos can carry around 70 packages, while the average electric scooter can only carry 35 packages. Its grocery carrying capacity is also said to be three times that of a standard 2-wheeler. The Qargos electric vehicle is powered by a 6.1 kWh lithium-ion battery, designed by Dassault Systèmes, and a 3.0 motor.

The 4 kW electric motor produces a maximum power of 6 kW. It can reach a maximum speed of 80 km/h. Electric vehicles can travel 150 km on a single charge. The battery can be charged in 5 hours and 15 minutes. The company also plans to develop DC fast charging capabilities, which is expected to reduce charging time to about 3 hours.
