Royal Enfield Classic 500 ABS Model Launched – Know Details

Royal Enfield Classic 500 ABS comes earlier than the norms which are set to kick in April 2019

Across India, many Royal Enfield dealerships have begun with the deliveries of Classic 500 ABS models. Royal Enfield has offered the Classic 500 ABS with a price tag bearing Rs 2.10 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). The price tag also varies depending on the colour scheme one chooses. This update to the Classic 500 comes right after the introduction of the Classic 350 Signals Edition, which is the first bike from Royal Enfield to be introduced with ABS in the Indian market.

As we compare the prices of the ABS model of the Classic 500 with the standard model, it is expensive by Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. As per some reports from the dealerships, we get to know that the ABS model is at present available on the Stealth Black and Desert storm paint schemes. The other versions of the Classic 500 will soon be offered with the ABS unit in the coming days.

Just like the Classic Signals edition, even the Classic 500 gets the dual-channel AB unit. Similarly this unit is also seen on the Royal Enfield Himalayan (ABS) model. As we compare the prices of the Classic 500 ABS with its standard model it seems like a bit steep, but as we consider the Himalayan ABS model is expensive by Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 in comparison with the standard model.

Only the ABS unit is a major change on the Classic 500 (ABS), while mechanically it still remains unchanged. It is powered with the same single cylinder, 499cc, air-cooled, fuel injected, petrol engine producing 27 bhp of power and 41Nm of twist.

This major safety feature had been awaited from quite some time since the international models were already equipped with it. In the coming months, all of the models from Royal Enfield’s line up in India will receive ABS. On the other hand, Royal Enfield is also gearing up with the launch of the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor.
