UM DSR Adventure 200 doesn’t offer much in terms of numbers, but should help amateur get a taste of adventure bikes

We have already witnessed a number of adventure-focused bikes undergoing testing in India this year including Classic 500 scrambler, XTZ 125, 390 adventure etc. Now a new addition to the list is the DSR Adventure 200 ABS from the house of UM motorcycles. It is expected to price around Rs 1.39 lakh when it launches in India probably in 2019. The leaked images of this off-road bike have revealed its engine specifications and some feature details.

The bike will be powered by a 196cc, single cylinder, air cooled engine with an output of 16bhp@8,500rpm and 16Nm@6,500rpm. The engine is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox and the bike features fuel tank capacity of 14-litre. 17-inch alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres are the part of standard fitment. Both front and rear tyres get disc brakes though system is equipped with single channel ABS only.

DSR comes with a seat height of 780mm which we feel a bit low for the adventure-focused segment. Leaked images also reveal that DSR will available in four colors – octane blue, midnight black, olive green, and brick red.

DSR Adventure 200 ABS features a tall stance and shares a lot of similarity with Romet ADV 125 F1 Pro. Like the international version of Romet, the spotted DSR features top-box and panniers. Now whether UM plans to sell bigger engine version of Romet in India, or both UM and Romet outsourcing the bike from a third party manufacturer is something that is still not known.

DSR Adventure 200 ABS will be pitted against the likes of upcoming Hero Xpulse 200 which is expected to get market launch very soon. Hero is estimated to price Xpulse around Rs 1 lakh. It will be interesting to witness how biking enthusiasts will react to this top-box and panniers loaded UM.
