Mahindra is one of the few manufacturer who has reacted to the diesel Delhi ban. The SUV’s on sale had the 2.2 diesel unit which wasn’t allowed to be sold. Mahindra was quick react and get 1.99 diesel engine that could be sold in the state. Sales continued like other car manufacturer who had 1.9 litre diesel engines as well. The 1.9 diesel unit was available with a manual gearbox since March 2016. However, now Mahindra has silently introduced two automatic variants as well which were available before with the 2.2 litre unit. We have the entire detail of the same.
Mahindra XUV 500 Facelift 1.9 Diesel Automatic Engine, Gearbox and Mileage
The engine is the same 2.2 litre unit detuned and down on displacement thanks to the changes in block and head of the engine. The engine continues to make 140 BHP of power and 330 Nm of torque. There is a 6-speed manual which is quite good. However, even better is the new six-speed gearbox sourced from a Japanese manufacturer which is great on upshifts and downshifts as well. Mileage in real life conditions is said to be around 11-12 km/l mark and tank range is a humongous over 1000 kms.
Mahindra XUV 500 Facelift 1.9 Diesel Automatic Chassis, suspension and off-road
The SUV has the monocoque chassis which sets it part. Way better ride and handling than its competitors and stable mates thanks to mature suspension setup all around. Disc brakes all around do a good job as well of aiding in dynamic abilities. For the off-road enthusiast, a clever and fuel-efficient system, which is known All-Wheel-Drive has been installed in two variants to make it go off-road, but not as hardcore as its stable mates or rivals. The chassis and well rounded package helps it save over 500 kgs of weight over its nearest old school ladder on frame rivals.

Mahindra XUV 500 1.9 Diesel Automatic Interiors and Features
High quality interiors all around the color coordination has changed from maroon-red to beige and black for the facelift which makes it more appealing. Features list is pretty much what defines the XUV as it comes with a sunroof, start-stop button, keyeless entry, parking senors and camera, automatic headlamps and wipers. Connectivity options, touch screen unit, dual zone climate control, rear A/C vents. Projector headlights with DRLs, power seats, fully electronic features and other small tit bits that make the package a tempting deal.
