Ducati Monster 797 is an old-school motorcycle in today’s tough emission laden times, something that cannot be missed

Ducati is all set to roll in the country and will be most likely unstoppable. The manufacturer has a motorcycle in every segment and every niche and it wants target everywhere. Using its history, technology and reach, it wants the numbers that it deserves all around the world. Ducati is doing very well in the country as it sales are soaring and it is from a higher segment, not the affordable one surprisingly. The adventure touring motorcycles are the one which are leading the pack.

However, a large chunk, which cannot ignored also brings large number of sales. The Monster series is what we are talking about. To escalate that, Ducati, as we know, has launched the old-school, simple, twist the wrist and pop-a-wheelie motorcycle called the 797. Our source now informs us that it is coming as early as July 2017 into the Indian market. Pricing is key and we have approx number as well!

Ducati Monster 797 Design and Dimensions

Essentially Monster everywhere when it comes to all the panels seen on the motorcycle. There is a new fuel tank as expected. The headlights remain the same. New silver and red scheme looks terrific. New muffler, seats, alloys and much more can be seen on the motorcycle. LED strip in between the headlights and another red and white scheme on the bike makes it look fresh and new. With a seat height of just 805 mm it is truly an approachable bike for the masses.

2017 Ducati Monster 797 Chassis, suspension and brakes

There is a new twin-spar swingarm at the rear and a trellis frame at the front. A non-adjustable KYB 43mm fork at the front and preload/rebound adjustable Sachs monoshock at the rear doing the simple duties. Electronics are bare minimum too. There’s no traction control to stop your misbehaving. However, you get the Bosch 9.1 MP ABS module, mated to a Brembo M4.32 calipers at the front that have dual disc setup. The 797 has a 193 kgs kerb weight The wheels have 120/70 17 front tyre slapped on and a 180/55 17 at the rear. Pirelli Diablo Rosso II are standard fitment on the bike. The 16.5 litre tank is made of steel means you can stick your magnetic bag on it, no problem!

2017 Ducati Monster 797 Engine And Specification

803cc Desmodue L-twin from the Scrambler has been borrowed that makes 75 BHP, and 68.8 Nm of torque in the 797. The 803 air-cooled engine has a APTC wet multi-plate clutch with mechanical control on offer.

India launch will happen in July 2017. Prices are set to be around Rs. 9 lakhs, a tad bit expensive than what we expect it to be, but source suggest this could be an on-road price.

2017 Ducati Monster 797 Safety and Features

There is full LCD dash with the 797 that allows to use Ducati’s Multimedia System. A USB power socket is also offered to keep charged and connected. ABS come as standard,there isn’t much offer apart from that as the motorcycle tends to be last-era old-school simple motorcycle to ride.
