The all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine India debut happened at the 2020 Auto Expo in February and now has gone on sale. The new A-Class Limousine replaces the CLA in the company’s stable as its most affordable sedan. A-Class Limousine India version is available in three versions – Petrol, Diesel and the powerful AMG.

The Mercedes A-Class Limousine India versions get the petrol and diesel versions in the Progressive Line trim and this brings in a host of equipment including twin 10.25-inch displays, MBUX infotainment system, connected car tech, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with memory function, wireless charging for smartphones and more.

Externally though, expect to see simpler bumper and alloy wheels in play, while the AMG version comes with larger air intakes, AMG-spec alloy wheels and twin exhaust tips at the rear. Do note that the yellow A-Class Limousine on display at the 2020 Expo was the AMG version.

On the inside too, the Mercedes-AMG A 35 Limousine gets upgrades with that quintessential Affalterbach touch. This includes aluminium finished pedals, AMG steering wheel, carbon fibre inserts, sports front seats, as well as a Burmester sound system. It is also be a complete blacked-out cabin for the aggressive touch on the model. The A200 and A200d come in a beige and black interior.

Powertrain options on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine India versions includes the 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol with 163PS and 250Nm. It is to be noted that a derivative of this motor also powers the Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks. On the other hand, the A-Class diesel will draw power from 2.0-litre turbo engine that develops 150PS and 250Nm. The engines are paired with the 7G dual-clutch transmission for petrol and the 8G dual-clutch transmission for diesel.

Speaking about the more powerful A 35 AMG, the model uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor that belts out 306PS and 400Nm. The motor is paired with a 7-speed AMG tuned DCT unit with power sent to all four wheels via the 4MATIC AWD system. The A 35 is capable of sprinting from 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine is priced at Rs. 39.90 lakhs for petrol and Rs. 40.90 lakhs for diesel. The AMG has been priced at a stellar Rs 56.24 lakhs. The model will also lock horns against the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and the upcoming Audi A3 sedan.
