KTM has been actively testing downsized iterations of its liquid-cooled single-cylinder platform, originally developed to circumvent higher taxation brackets in specific markets like India. Now we can confirm from our sources SMC is back on the table and launch will happen by next quarter. SMC was delayed only for price, but with the new 350cc engine, it is possible!! By reducing the bore and stroke configuration, the downsized engine is expected to deliver performance figures hovering around the 40 bhp mark, ensuring that the dynamic character typical of KTM’s lightweight lineup remains largely intact.
While the initial global unveiling of the Supermoto model leaned toward the 399cc displacement, the introduction of a 350cc derivative serves as a strategic adaptation to emerging regional demand for SMC!
