Benelli BJ 1200 GT Tourer Revealed In Leaked Images Completely Undisguised
Spy shots from China’s Qianjiang Group are on a roll and the latest to hit the internet is that of the Benelli BJ 1200 GT. This will be Benelli’s new top-of-the-line tourer and the latest spy images reveal the motorcycle in its complete glory. The Benelli BJ 1200 GT is a tourer complete with the massive fairing, large windscreen and a bulbous fuel tank. The design seems heavily inspired by the BMW R 1250 RT right down to that enormous headlight cluster. The spy images also reveal a top case and panniers, which are likely to be offered as optional on the tourer. When launched, the new BJ 1200 GT would be the biggest motorcycle to come from the brand with a kerb weight expected around 338kg.
Power on the upcoming Benelli BJ 1200 GT will come from a 1209cc liquid-cooled, in-line three-cylinder engine. The new motor is a bored-out version of the 1103cc three-pot motor from the TNT 1130. The updated engine is expected to produce about 131 bhp, while paired with a 6-speed transmission.
Not a lot is known about the feature list on the motorcycle. However, a shot of the Benelli BJ 1200 GT’s instrument console reveals a slew of features includes keyless ignition, full LED lighting, powered mirrors with electrical adjustability, radar-based adaptive cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system and more. The bike also makes use a chain-sprocket based system to send power to the rear wheel, in place of a shaft-driven system seen on the bigger tourers. With a wheelbase of 1550mm, the BJ 1200 GT is enormous.
Qianjiang Group local sub-brand QJ Motor has already announced the BJ 1200 GT for the market and the bike will also join the Chinese police force. The commercial launch can be expected next year in China, followed by Europe. It will be interesting to see if the motorcycle makes its way to the Indian market as well. For now, Benelli India is expected to roll out the BS6 compliant versions of its motorcycles soon.
