Suzuki Intruder 250 Is On Its Way and will fight the Avenger 220 or the upcoming rumored Avenger 250 slated for launch within 1.5 years
It’s just been a couple of days since we’ve seen the new kid in the block, the all new Gixxer SF 250. Noticeable enough this isn’t the first attempt from Suzuki for entering the quarter litre motorcycle segment. History is the witness of Suzuki’s participation in the 250cc segment with the Inazuma 250, but that motorcycle didn’t stay long enough in India.
Followed by the launch of Gixxer SF 250, Suzuki further plans to launch an all new Intruder but with a bigger engine and a few more add-on(s). The new Intruder will boast a 250cc engine same as that of the latest Gixxer SF 250 but will be a BS-VI compliant from day one. The Gixxer SF 250 motor churns out 26.5ps at 9,000 rpm and 22.6Nm torque at 7,500 rpm from the 249cc single cylinder.
The Gixxer 250 packs an oil cooled system with 4 valves, SOHC engine and a 6 speed gear box. The Intruder 250cc may differ in visual aspects compared to it’s younger sibling. A few changes to look out for the new Intruder can be a full LED headlight, twin canister setup and a similar instrument console derived from the Gixxer SF 250.
The basics are not to be forgotten, the Intruder 250 will display a set of conventional telescopic forks at the front and rear monoshock suspension to absorb the bumps and single disc brakes on the front as well as rear wheel to help you stop in time. But let’s not miss out on the fact that it has to get dual channel ABS for added safety.
The price bracket for the Intruder can be from INR 1.70 lakhs to INR 1.80 lakhs and should hit the Indian roads by 2020. The Intruder 250 may not have a direct competition in the 250cc cruiser motorcycle until Bajaj has an upgraded Avengers on the charts and the rumoured Harley Davidson 250cc motorcycle comes into production.
