The prices of the BS6 Bajaj Dominar 400 have been leaked and according to the document, the updated version of the bike will retail at Rs 1, 91,751. Just so you know, the price of the BS4 variant of the Dominar 400 is Rs 1,90,002 which means that the effective hike in the prices of the new version is only Rs 1,749 (both prices, ex-showroom, Mumbai). The bookings are open unofficially and prospective buyers can book the bike by paying a booking amount between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000. Deliveries will start once the bike launches in the market in late February or early March this year.
There is no official information on the specification of new Dominar 400 although it is expected that performance figures (40PS and 35Nm) will remain similar to the outgoing model. Yes, the engine will undergo some tweaking in terms of getting a new catalytic converter and remapping of an electronic control unit (ECU) but that’s all as far as changes to the powertrain are involved.
There is no cosmetic upgrade that the BS6 Bajaj Dominar 400 version will receive although Bajaj might come up with some new color schemes for the BS6 version to entice buyers. Similarly, we don’t expect Bajaj to alter with the currently used mechanical hardware which means chassis, suspension system, and braking components will be carried over. Once launched, the new Dominar 400 BS6 will continue to take on the likes of Mahindra Mojo 300, Royal Enfield Classic 350, and Jawa among others.
