TVS Overtakes Hero MotoCorp as the second largest scooter seller in the country, Jupiter is the highest volume unit from the company

TVS Overtakes Hero MotoCorp, this is clearly the biggest new of 2017! These numbers come during the April-February period this fiscal, which is according to the latest SIAM data that reveals TVS sold 7,43,838 units during April-February this fiscal as against 7,07,884 units in the year-ago period, something also marked a big growth of 5.07% for TVS. Hero MotoCorp lost 1.64% and on the other hand sold 7,19,987 units of scooters during the period under review as compared to 7,31,967 units a year ago. All of this equals to the fact that the company sold 23,000 odd units over Hero’s total sales.

The number one scooter seller in India during the period continues ot be Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) with a total of 29,34,794 as against 25,44,872 units when compared to last year and ended up in result growth of 15.32%. Getting specific, HMSI’s Activa model is the best selling scooter in the country by a mile clocking 2,17,098 units in February 2017, followed by TVS Jupiter with 51,817 units sold and Hero Maestro dispatch stood at 32,421 units in the same month. The numbers must have gone down with Hero because it has recalled a large batch of scooter and must have stopped production of the scooters to fix an issue.

Meanwhile, the race for the fourth and fifth biggest scooter sellers in India is between Japanese rivals Yamaha the former remains ahead of its rival. So far in the year 2017 fiscal, India Yamaha Motor has sold 3,95,704 units as against 2,87,921 in the 2016 fiscal year, which marks an increase of 37.43% for Yamaha.

Suzuki Motorcycle India individual sales are here and it has sold 2,51,504 scooters as compared with 2,05,680 units sold in 2016 fiscal which marks an 22.28% increase. The total sales of scooters in the domestic market grew 11.7% when all of this is summed up. In the April-February period this fiscal the total sum of numbers stand at 51,17,997 units as against 45,81,640 units in the same period last fiscal.
