Dominar 400 is creating all the right hype this time and we have already told you about the same several weeks, months and in some cases, years ago. Bajaj was making a DOHC engine in Late 2017, which we told you, has finally taken shape and has made it to the Dominar 400. Leaked spec sheet confirms the same. Earlier, by the looks, we could confirm the bike did get a large radiator over the previous bike. Since the addition of DOHC, the increase in power stands 39.9 PS of power and torque continues to be 35 Nm.

Something we told you couple of months ago, that you should expect a 5 PS increase and that has happened. Earlier, leaked spy shots confirmed that the bike will be getting revised instrument cluster, a criticism we had, has been addressed and as the leaked pictures, suggest it gets all the tell-tale lights, parameters, warning lights, fuel-economy parameters added to the dual cluster to make it more interesting. The heavily revised engine should smoother, quicker, faster than its European rivals while offering good value for money at the same time. It should retain the highly acclaimed LED Lights, slipper clutch and dual channel ABS.

The sports 400cc segment is a very niche for now. Kawasaki is trying to take it with the Ninja 400, but that isn’t happening because of the Rs 5.5 lakhs price tag in most cities. The Himalayan continues to do same sales number as the Dominar 400 and KTM Duke 390. Sales are down because the production of the 2019 Dominar 400 has begun. The market for 400cc bikes is between 1500-2000 units. Bajaj has a commanding share in the segment and it will be further strengthen by the upcoming Husqvarna brand. Sources say we should still expect a surprise! The new Dominar takes the game far ahead than expected. Stay tuned for a review to follow in the coming days.
