2019 Yamaha R3 Facelift Gets Drastic Change – KTM RC390 Rival will be more interesting to ride
In the run-up to its launch, Yamaha has officially released images of 2019 YZF-R3. What is immediately striking from the pictures is the racy design of the R3. The new styling is inspired by the looks MotoGP YZR-M1 which is sure to strike a chord with racing enthusiasts. To be launched in 2019, the new R3 is based on the diamond frame and inverted fork, both features aimed to enhance bike’s rigidity and control. Braking will be via hydraulic disc at both front and rear and the R3 will get a rear swinging arm.
The new YZF-R3 will feature 110mm and 140mm wide tubeless tire at front and rear respectively. The overall height of the bike is rated at 1140 mm while seat height stands at 780mm. The fuel-tank also has a decent capacity of 14-liters.
Among the key onboard features, one gets large air scoop, LED headlamps, new windscreen, LCD display, and redesigned fuel tank. Not only the new fuel tank – inspired by the R1 – looks stunning but it also aids the riding comfort by offering better knees positioning. There is no change in the alloy wheels and exhaust muffler though and both will be carried over from the outgoing model.
A 321cc, twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine putting out 41bhp and 29.6Nm will power the new YZF-R3. The engine is compliant with BS-VI norms which will come into force in India from April 2020. Prices will be announced at the launch though we expect the new R3 to charge a premium over its current price tag of Rs 3.49 lakh.
